Parking Notice for Sumers Rec Members

Parking Notice for Sumers Rec Members

Effective July 1, the University has undergone significant changes to its approach to on-campus parking which has implications for members of the Sumers Recreation Center. Please be advised of the following aspects of this new parking strategy that may affect you:

  • Parking for yellow spaces in each zone will be enforced from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Red spaces will continue to be enforced 24 hours a day, seven days per week. These policies will also apply during the summer months and holidays
  • All parking meters have been removed from the Danforth campus. The daily parking option is the purchase of a day pass ($9) from the Office of Parking & Transportation at 700 Rosedale Avenue. We're hopeful that by January, certain campus parking garages in close proximity to Sumers will be outfitted with gates and provide an hourly option.

If you are not a yellow or red parking permit holder and you rely on an automobile for transportation to campus, we encourage you to schedule your facility visits outside of the enforceable permit time periods listed above. Please note that the Sumers Recreation Center is very proximal to the University City-Big Bend metro station as an alternative transportation option. Ample bicycle racks are also located directly next to the Sumers Recreation Center.

More information on parking changes can be found directly at http://parking.wustl.edu/specialprojects/. We hope this will not be the case, but if these parking change create an undue hardship for your ability to continue to utilize the Sumers Recreation Center, please contact Assistant Director of Membership, Ben Smith bensmith@wustl.edu or Director of Recreation, Bryan Lenz blenz@wustl.edu for information on your refund options.
